Hong Kong Nunchaku Association (HKNA) was established on 25 August 2016 with a mission to professionally promote and develop nunchaku as a sport and cultural art form in Hong Kong. We are dedicated to advancing HKNA on both local and international stages through education, performances, cultural promotion, and media collaborations.

The predecessor of HKNA, Future HK Nunchakus Art Association, was founded on 3 February 2009 by Jerry Lau — a world-renowned nunchaku pioneer and icon. It was the one of the first professional nunchaku organisations in the world.

To date, HKNA has:

• Organised or participated in over 1,000 nunchaku-related events

• Delivered over 200 performances

• Conducted training in over 150 schools and 50 community centres

• Been featured in over 100 media interviews (nearly all major local outlets)

• Appeared in over 200 TV programs and media-related events

• Collaborated with over 100 local and international brands and organizations

After more than 17 years of dedicated effort, HKNA has successfully transformed public perception of nunchaku — from a misunderstood and often prohibited weapon to a widely respected multi-faceted art, culture, and sport. Today, nunchaku is officially recognised by the HKSAR Government, regularly invited for performances and collaborations, and even practised by government officials.

Nunchaku has now become not only a signature symbol of Bruce Lee, but also a unique cultural icon of Hong Kong known around the world.

As a global leader in nunchaku development and influence, HKNA continues to achieve milestones once thought impossible. Moving forward, our mission remains clear: to lead nunchaku toward an even brighter and greater future.
