It is HKNA’s mission to promote nunchaku culture by creating a professional and safe learning environment that empowers enthusiasts to reach their full potential in their nunchaku journey.
With over 100,000 students taught and collaborated with 200 schools, 100 institutions, and 50 community centers, we actively engage in various activities and events to disseminate and strengthen nunchaku’s status in society.
Our vision is to lead the future of the nunchaku movement, enhancing our mastery and influence while promoting cross-regional technical exchanges and collaboration, ultimately nurturing a new generation of talent that brings impact not only to society but to the world, contributing to the rich history of nunchaku.

About our association
Hong Kong Nunchaku Association (HKNA), established on August 25, 2016, is dedicated to the professional promotion and dissemination of nunchaku sports and culture in Hong Kong. Our organisation aims to expand the art and culture of HK Nunchaku on an international scale through daily nunchaku events such as educating, performing and promoting locally, and receiving interviews from TV channels and medias.
After more than 17 years of our hard work. The knowledge of nunchaku evolved from a dangerous weapon, often prohibited and avoided by society due to the lack of social understanding, exploitation, and development, to a multi-directional art, culture, and sport recognised by our HKSAR Government and invited in performances or collaborations; with multiple HKSAR officials who have held or even owned nunchaku — the once prohibited weapon.
Nunchaku is now widely recognised in Hong Kong not just as a signature of Bruce Lee, but a unique world-known cultural symbol of Hong Kong.

Sifu Jerry Lau and the Hong Kong Nunchaku Association (HKNA) have transformed nunchaku from a niche martial art into a recognized cultural force in Hong Kong and beyond — founding the city’s first dedicated nunchaku association, establishing the official Hong Kong chapter of the World Nunchaku Association, and creating the world’s first annual Nunchaku Day.
From pioneering mega-stage performances and government events, to dominating international freestyle competitions (including HK’s first world champion title), producing multiple black belts, setting a Guinness World Record, and collaborating with icons like Andy Lau, MC Jin, and Philip Ng — they continue to break new ground daily through large-scale promotions, elite competitions, major TV features, theatre advising, teaching over 100,000 people across schools and communities.
